6 rings

I had made 6 rings. The ring is stainless steel with square shape. I used the small chips from Dominica amber, Borneo & Blatic one. The Blatic one are the original sea amber.

過程 PROCESS

從一件原礦、打磨拋光、到成為一件吊咀. 打磨前約30g, 吊咀現在20g.
This is the process from a raw amber, polished & be an pendant. Weight of the pendant is 20g. I forgot to measure the weight before polished, it was approx. 30g.

 

中國琥珀?? China Amber?

中國琥珀只有潦寕省的撫順出產, 由於撫順也是產煤區, 故此渗有雜色不出為奇, 撫順的金黃透明琥珀更稀有及珍貴. 購入這批琥珀的時候, 店主稱是中國來的. 雖然質地很相似, 有紅、黑及帶樹紋花珀. 始終還有點保留是否中國琥珀, 因與婆羅洲的幾相近.

When I bought this lot of amber, seller said that it is from China. Although the texture are quite silmilar, they has difference colors of red, black, mixture of brown & white. I'm still doubtful if they are from China. Since the texture is a bit close to Broneo's one.
p.s. In China, the only place produce amber is in FuShun of  Liaoning Province, where also produce coal. So it is very usual that the amber mixed with other texture & colors. The golden clear one is very rare.



Stainless steel bangle, covered with wooden slice & stuck difference colors of amber from Blatic, Dominica & Indonisia.

兩件都是印尼珀. 紅珀9.3g. 黃珀29g. 始終是young amber. 質地未算穩定, 尤其紅珀表面還不斷風化. 
Both are Indonisia young amber. Red one is 9.3g & yellow is 29g. Surface of the red one is still changing, not stable.

相對比 Contrast

這是最近的成品或新修改的. 很想做一些比較強烈形態的表現, 那件肥肥的肋肉加蓋頂圓銀帽子相對切角配銀線扣, 很是對比.
下面那件於上部平面斜角, 但底部維持原礦粗糙, 也是對比.

另外一小件就無乜概念, 就叫 [hot button] 吧, 掛在身上, 遇到EQ指數低時, 輕按button, 提醒自己要cool down!!!

愉景灣 星期天 手作工藝市集

5月30日, 一個風和日麗的星期天, 食過餐疍麵, 嘆過杯茶走, 穿住對人字拖, 懶洋洋的踏上愉景灣渡輪, MP3放着昨晚load上的net radio, 他不斷XY#&#XYZ, 哈哈大笑, 於渡輪上放眼維港兩岸, 漸漸遠離這煙臭之地. (幻想中)

期待着久遺了的愉景灣星期天市集, 由Hand Made Hong Kong 主辨, 全部手作工藝, 當然有kurashiki 的amber檔仔哪!

或者可以帶支SPF90PA+++  同 啤酒來, 吹水論珀!!!!!!

It's really a happy day. I met a lot amber lovers & sold quite a lot of my ambers. Also have to say thank you to Megan of HandmadeHongKong for all her arrangement.

流線形 Steamlined form

每次攞起舊原礦打磨時, 都不外乎是按原形再磨滑, 儘量唔想浪費每一kg. 不過就被侷限咗, 有時都會幾乏味. 漸漸借助不同的工具, 終於摸索到一些有趣的打磨技考. 件尖尖的老鼠又像鼻子的東面是最先的成品, 但好像缺少了甚麽似的, 最後過了2、3個月, 終於用silver clay 造了個底盆及脚, 似返[一件東西]!

I always polish the amber according the oroginal form, try to keep the weight as more as I could. But it is very dull & limited on the creative work. Then I use some tools when hand polishing, & found out how to polished  into different steamlined forms. That [nose] form amber is the earliest one made, but it looks like an unfinished artwork. 2,3 months later, I'd added legs on it with silver clay. Now, it looks better!

沙勞越珀 Sarawak amber

 

Sarawak 呢個名對我好似好親密, 因為自己去過Sarawak好幾個地方, 尤其是Kuching (Cat City).
不禁問點解以前去沙勞越無見到有得賣?
呢舊沙勞越珀己經擁有一段時間了, 久不久会攞出來抛光一吓. 同其他的婆羅乃珀不同的是比較硬, 密度高, 實色及內有很多颗粒晶體. 打磨時也同樣有幽幽的珀香. 我將佢一半打磨光滑、一半保持原狀的粗粒. 完成後還有137g. 紫外光燈下、琥珀營光班點班點的呈現.

It is Sarawak amber. May be they are produced in Sarawak region. In fact it is very difference from Borneo amber. It is harder than Borneo one, they mixed with light yellow particles & the surface is very rough. I'd like to keep those interesting surface that just polished half end. camouflage appearance of amber fluorescent color could be seem under UV light. After polished, it's weight is 137g.

薄片!! chip pendant

在之前的多明尼加珀中有一片深黃透明的小碎片, 兩面是自然脱落的, 非開料後的剩件. 厚度由2mm - 1mm. 約3.5cm x 1.5cm. 但卻像玻璃般堅硬筆直. 沒有任何雜點. 如果多一片則可當耳環了.想着想着......最後決定用1mm的半圓柱狀銀線包架. 效果也不錯! 可愛! 又一[的式]作品!

It is a tiny chip from the recent lot of  Dominica amber. Really tiny that don't know how to use it. The size is approx. 3.5cm x 1.5cm, from 1mm - 2mm thick. The color is very harmony & harden as glass. Finally I framed it with the half rounded silver wire. A simple, tiny, mini pendant is done! If there were 2 pieces, it could be made as a pair of earring.
